Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the List for Diversity and Social Affairs? +
The List for Diversity and Social Affairs is a political list at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. We advocate for an inclusive university where all students feel comfortable and safe. Our goals include diversity, social justice, and improving study conditions.
Is the List for Diversity and Social Affairs serious/credible? +
Yes, absolutely! We have already 3 years of parliamentary experience in the BTU student parliament and actively advocate for the interests of all students. Even though we're always up for a laugh and spice up our communication with humor, we take our political work very seriously. We have achieved many successes, such as saving the StuRa from the tax authorities by exposing that it was not paying its taxes correctly and being responsible for bringing attention to this matter. Thereby causing a now ongoing financial audit. Another success is an alcohol ban in the student parliament (StuPa) which previously had severe alcohol problems. We also provide direct and unbureaucratic help for international students.
What are the main goals of the list? +
Our main goals are:
  • No place for racism at the university
  • Improving working conditions for student assistants
  • Promoting sports and culture as academic achievements
  • Democratic structures in student council work
  • Qualitative improvement of cafeteria food
  • System critique instead of consumer critique

How does the student parliament election work? +
The student parliament (StuPa) election takes place online. You will receive a special voting link sent to your BTU email address before the election. You need this to participate. In the election, you can vote for individual candidates or for lists. The List for Diversity and Social Affairs runs as a joint list. For more information, see our voting guide.
Why should I vote for the List for Diversity and Social Affairs? +
Because we advocate for real change:
  • We fight against discrimination and for genuine inclusion
  • We improve working conditions for student assistants
  • We advocate for affordable and high-quality food
  • We promote culture and sports as part of studies
  • We are transparent and actively involve students
What is the difference between the List for Diversity and Social Affairs and other lists? +
Unlike other lists, we don't just advocate for individual interest groups, but for all students. We combine diversity with social justice and advocate for systemic changes. While other lists often only aim for cosmetic improvements, we address problems at their root.
How is the list financed? +
We do not receive funds from the university. The List for Diversity & Social Affairs finances itself exclusively through donations from our members. We use these funds transparently and purposefully for our political work, events, and public relations. We reject sponsorship from companies that violate our values. We also reject party financing from student council funds, as we believe this money should only be used to support student events.
